Day 1B of the ”Strangers in the Night” Event is playing its last few rounds, with 37 players still at the tables. Most of them will get to bag their chips and send them to Day 2. Unless a major turn of events occur, William Blais will bag the biggest stack.

6 more levels will be played tonight, separated in 2 segments of 3 levels each. When they are completed, players with chips will bag them and add their names to the list of 53 qualifiers that made it through Day 1A’s 14 levels.

The name of William Blais seems to resonate a lot this year. A month and a half ago, he took down the WCC Leaderboard’s first prize, a 10K Caribbean Party Poker package, right here at Playground Poker Club. These past couple of weeks, he focused on the online scene and accumulated an impressive number of final table during the latest series on partypoker.com, which got him a few 1K satellite seats, and eventually converted those into another 10K package for that same event in Punta Cana.
He will be flying down to the Caribbean for free, riding the wave, but not before tackling the Fall Classic. He is having quite a start, crushing the field after 7 levels, having eliminated former chip leader Matthew Pascarella with 8s against Pascarella’s 9s, hitting a set on the turn in a 3-way all-in that also saw pocket tens go down. His stack is monstrous, but on his table also sits Eric Afriat, a seasoned pro, who is looking at William’s stack with great appetite.

As the crowd withers slowly in Day 1B, stacks swell. Pascarella, the leader at the break, seems to have stabilized and the swarm is catching up. 2 more levels are to be played before the second break, which will see a lot of movement.
