It’s rare that anyone jumps out to a big lead so early in an event like this, but during our survey of the room at the break we found that John Xenos had already amassed just a shade under 100K, while Jonathan D’Souza already had 80K.

Although most of the festivals we host here at Playground Poker Club start with a low buy-in multi-day re-entry event like The Wild $150, this is the first time two of the starting flights have been held in the evening on a weeknight – Day 1c tonight and Day 1d tomorrow evening (also at 7pm).

By all indications, this new schedule is very popular. Cards have been in the air for 15 minutes and there are already over 300 runners in this third starting flight. With another 2 hours of late registration available, that number is certain to climb.

With 676 total entries in the first two starting flights, the overall prize pool has already surpassed the guaranteed $100,000 and every new entry will add more cash to what is sure to be an impressive final number.

Good luck to everyone playing tonight!

The leaders in level 12 of Day 1b

  • Level: 12
  • Small Blind: 800
  • Big Blind: 1600
  • Ante: 200
  • Chip Average: 55K
  • Remaining: 103
  • Entries: 285

The tournament is at the beginning of level 12, which means there are just two levels left to play. At this point in the evening, a few players have moved away from the pack, though compared with Day 1a (earlier today), the large stacks are quite a bit more balanced among the 104 players who remain.

Among the chip leaders is Michael Korovine with 145K, with Marcel Basset right behind with 135K and Robert Piché at 115K. The action in tonight’s second flight is quite different without a massive leader, but there’s still a long way to go… Final counts to come when Day 1b wraps up.
