Dany Hamel Boulay – a talented local player who has a lot of success here at Playground – was among the chip leaders at the last break with 109K, and who had grown his stack after the break to over 150K. Unfortunately Dany has just been eliminated from the tournament on a bad beat – in what was a 300K chip pot.

Dany held pocket Aces and ended up 5-betting all-in and found that his opponent held pocket Tens. His opponent hit a ten and Dany hit the rail.

There are 10 tables currently active and several players distancing themselves from the crowd. The tournament is moving along and players currently have an average of more than 50 big blinds. That’s it for Day 1c

Players are now bagging their chips as Day 1c of Event 3 has come to a close. There are around 45 players remaining and the chip leader to end the day looks to be Philippe Plouffe, who had a remarkable rush during the final level to take him from average stack to among the leaders at over 180K.

We’ll publish final counts and the final number of qualifiers from today’s flight as soon as tournament staff makes that information available.

  • Chip Average: 66K
  • Remaining: 57

Play has begun in level 13 with 57 players left of the 188 who started today. With just two levels yet to play, there is still time for people to build up big stacks to take to Day 2 – and a few players have been steadily growing their counts throughout the day.

At the beginning of this level, Robert Johnson and Tina Frascarelli were still the chip leaders with stacks now surpassing 185K. Following him are several players hovering around 130K – Jonathan Bussieres, Eric Levesque, and Isham Yamani. Following these three players are several more between about 95K and 115K – any of whom could challenge for the chip lead before the day is though.
