Tonight! Day 1b of the $250 Frenzy

In just about an hour, the second of six starting flights in The $250 Frenzy will get started, and a whole new crew of players will see if they have what it takes (both skill AND luck) to qualify for Day 2 on Monday evening.

Friday nights are always full of action here at Playground, so it should be a busy night. Players who want to jump in to the event are encouraged to do so as early as possible.

Play tonight, as is the case in each of the starting days of this event, will continue through 14 levels.

Good luck!

Day 1a is a wrap!

  • Level: 14
  • Small Blind: 1.2K
  • Big Blind: 2.4K
  • Ante: 400
  • Chip Average: 103.1K
  • Remaining: 26
  • Entries: 134

Today’s starting flight of the $250 Frenzy has come to an end and the players who have qualified for Day 2 are bagging their chips. Everyone who has qualified for Day 2 will return on Monday evening at 7pm to begin play – unless, of course, they choose to try to qualify with a bigger stack through an additional Day 1 flight.

The tournament clock says that there are 26 players remaining, but we’ll have the final official tally along with their chip counts a bit later this evening.

A clear leader emerges

  • Level: 12
  • Small Blind: 800
  • Big Blind: 1.6K
  • Ante: 200
  • Chip Average: 70.5K
  • Remaining: 38
  • Entries: 134

At the last break we found several players all in the 100K+ zone, but in just 2.5 levels since then, Kiril Gelev has run away from the field, building a huge 200K stack. There are very few (if any) players within 75K of him at this point in this starting flight.

That being said, play today (and for each Day 1) is scheduled for 14 levels, so there are still 2 and a half levels left to go – we’ll see if anyone can join Kiril in the 200K zone.

Chip leaders

  • Level: 10
  • Small Blind: 500
  • Big Blind: 1K
  • Ante: 100
  • Chip Average: 46.6K

During the break we found the current chip leaders in the tournament going into level 10.

  1. Patrick Vincent – 125K
  2. Fabio Luongo – 100K
  3. Jessie Wheatley – 98K
  4. Kiril Martinov Gelev – 96K

  • Small Blind: 400
  • Big Blind: 800
  • Ante: 100
  • Chip Average: 41.9K
  • Remaining: 64
  • Entries: 134

There are about 5 minutes left in level 9 in today’s first starting flight of Event 3, and while the players are on break we’ll be able to start to find out who is moving ahead of the pack now that the day has passed its half way point.

At the current time there are still 64 players in the action out of the 134 who started the day.

Here are some photos of the action in Day 1a of Event 3 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic.

The final number of entries for this starting flight went up to 134, but we’re expecting a lot more than this for all of the rest of the starting days, which all take place this weekend.

  • Small Blind: 100
  • Big Blind: 200
  • Ante: 25
