Daniel Mackay has been eliminated in 16th place after a huge hand between he and Albert Bassal.

Isham Yamani opened the action to 200K from UTG and Daniel 3-bet to 400K from middle position. Action folded around to Albert (SB) and he 4-bet shoved his (covering) stack. Isham folded, and Daniel snap-called by throwing a chip at the 400K he had already put in front of him.

Albert: Queen of Diamonds Queen of Clubs
Daniel: 10 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts

The flop was relatively safe: 7 of Clubs 7 of Hearts 9 of Spades but the turn 8 of Hearts gave Daniel an open-ended straight draw – but the Ace of Diamonds on the river wasn’t what he was looking for and he shipped his whole 2.9M chip stack to Albert, who is now the chip leader in the tournament.

Play has begun on Day 3 of Event 1 as the 32 players have taken their seats around 4 tables. There was a very slight delay to start the action as tournament staff coloured up the yellow T1000 chips – the smallest denomination now in play are the orange T5000 chips.

Day 3 is set to begin

Event 1 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic has now reached its third and final day. Play will begin in 30 minutes. There are just 32 players left in contention for the championship – and for the big prizes. Tonight one of these players will be taking home $34K – a fantastic first prize for a $150 (total) tournament!

Even though the day is starting with 32 players, there will be a full seating redraw at 27 players. There will be a final redraw at 10 players as the final table is set.

Play tonight is 9-handed, although with 32 players in the field, the tables are currently balanced at 8 players each. Blind levels have gone up from 30 minutes to 40 minutes and blinds tonight will start at 25K/50K/a5K. Blinds levels will revert to 30 minutes once play reaches the heads up phase of the tournament.

Good luck!

There are 46 players left and the tournament is just about to begin its last level of the day. There is a lot of action, but in particular on two tables. On the first, there are 3 players with over a million chips each, and the fighting is fierce. Right next to that table, 2 new large stacks have joined the leaders in the tournament. Photos to come…
