Event 3 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic is called The $250 Frenzy – and it promises to be a fantastic event.

Why?

Well for one thing, there is a $200,000 Guarantee on the prize pool! So before a single hand has been played, there’s already incredible value in the tournament.

And with SIX starting flights – two today, two tomorrow, and two on Sunday, everyone can take multiple shots to qualify to move forward to Day 2 and stay in contention for what are sure to be some amazing top prizes.

Players have taken their seats in Day 1a of Event 3 and cards are now in the air. There are just 85 players seated, but as usual with an early start time (11am), there are many players still en route to Playground Poker Club.

Late registration is open through the first 4 30-minute levels, so there’s still about 2 hours left to get here and jump in the action on Day 1a.

Good luck to all of the players!

From the time that play in Event 2 became a heads-up affair between Jean-François Lescadres and Kyle Myers, it took just a few hands to crown the winner.

The winning hand played out like this:

Jean-François called from the button, and without any hesitation Kyle, who covered Jean-François, raised all-in. Jean-François called, and the cards were turned over:

Kyle Myers: King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds
Jean-François Lescadres: Ace of Spades 5 of Spades

The flop came out Jack of Diamonds 9 of Spades 10 of Hearts and then the turn 8 of Spades gave Jean-François a flush draw. The river Queen of Hearts allowed Kyle to fade the draw and we had a winner in Event 2, the $220 Freeze ($200 + $20 NL Hold’em).

After a long, hard-fought tournament the final day of Event 1 has reached its heads-up phase with just two players remaining in contention for the top prize of $30,600 (prize reflects a player deal made at 3 players remaining).

The two players still in the action are Ahmad Baalbaki and Mike Lafable, whose voyage to this point could not have been more different. Where Ahmad was among the chip leaders from early on in Day 2, Mike was never among the leaders until the very end. And where Ahmad played a tight, aggressive game, Mike seemed to alternate between trying to open up the game by playing a lot of hands and then periods of extremely tight play as he needed to double up to survive. But, survive he did – as did Ahmad – and both players have done very well to get to this point in the tournament.

3rd place: Bichr Awad

  • Level: 38
  • Small Blind: 300K
  • Big Blind: 600K
  • Ante: 75K
  • Chip Average: 14.6M
  • Remaining: 2
  • Entries: 1464

After a full level of play 3-handed, Mike Lafable managed to eliminate Bichr Awad in 3rd place.

The players were all in preflop (Bichr had gotten quite short).

Bichr: King of Clubs 10 of Hearts
Mike: 6 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds

The flop was perfect for Bichr – 10 of Clubs 9 of Hearts 4 of Clubs and the turn was better still – King of Spades – though it really didn’t change anything, Mike still needed a river 6 to win the hand. Lo and behold, the dealer put out the 6 of Spades on the river giving Mike his set for the win.
