Day 2 of The Wild $150 – Event 1 in the 2014 Playground Poker Fall Classic – is set to begin in about 10 minutes, when the 325 players who have qualified through the four starting flights take their seats and resume play.
Today’s action will start in level 14 (blinds 2.4K/1.2K/a400) and blinds will be 30 minutes long. The chip average to start the evening is 90.1K and play will be 9-handed for the rest of the tournament.
Among the players remaining, of note are Mathieu Tanguay (68,300), Michael Neuber (55,100), Jennifer Brooks (36,400), and Bill Kontaratos (60,600), who have all won or final tabled similar events here at Playground. In fact, Mathieu Tanguay won this event during last year’s Fall Classic. Unfortunately each of them starts the day below the tournament chip average.
Also in the field are some of the top 10 tournament players at Playground Poker in terms of the number of big-event cashes. Michael Korovine (142,000) has cashed in more events at Playground than any other player, and others on this list are Costa Psallidas (53,200), Justin Miller (33,600), Marc-André Racine (84,800), and David Hamel (96,900).
The bubble in the event will be reached once we get to 154 remaining and everyone after that will cash in the event. If past events are any indicator, we should hit the bubble relatively quickly tonight and play will only slow significantly once the pay jumps start to grow at the end of the evening.
Good luck to everyone playing tonight!
