The players are putting each other to the test as we get into the later levels of Day 1D. In round 11, with the blinds at 600/1,200, we saw Steve Carriere make a huge call to scoop a monster pot. Carriere, who made a deep run in Event #2, the Crazy $80, to finish seventh out of 262 entries, continued his courageous play when faced with a difficult river decision. We arrived at the table to see lots of chips in the pot and Carriere in the tank facing a river shove for over 42,000. The board was . Carriere, after scrutinizing his opponent for several minutes, finally pushed his chips forward. To Carriere’s relief, his opponent sheepishly muttered “nice call.” Carriere slammed down his hand to show as the other player mucked.
