Moments later on the same table, just before it broke and sent its survivors to 1 of 4 remaining tables, Kevin Scheen was the victim of a set-up:

The huge pot was pushed to Curkovich. Play continues with 35 minutes left to the night.

With the blinds now at 600/1.2K/a1.2K, many short stacks are feeling the pressure, which leads to a lot of pre-flop action. In this hand, Jean-David Rivard won his race against Ryan Jensen, for a 40K pot:

    Jean-David Rivard

Jean-David Rivard: Jack of Clubs Jack of Diamonds
Ryan Jensen: Ace of Clubs King of Spades

Stéphane Bédard open-limped from the small blind, and Yan Nadeau raised to 2,7K. Bédard went ahead and pumped it to 8K, which was called rather quickly by Nadeau. Bédard placed a c-bet on a dry flop, and when Nadeau mucked, Bédard showed aces, and asked Nadeau if he would have bet into a check. Nadeau chuckled, and said he wouldn’t, indicating that he had Bédard exactly where he was.

Later, on another table, Elvira Popescu and Therlegrand Faustin were involved in a sizable pot. Popescu check-called the turn, and open-shoved the river for about 12K into a pot estimated at almost 30K. Faustin tanked for several minutes, and eventually called time on himself. 3 seconds before expiration, he pushed forward the exact amount. A good call!

Elvira Popescu: Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts
Therlegrand Faustin: 8 of Diamonds 7 of Spades

Board: 9 of Spades 7 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 8 of Hearts King of Spades
