Players have taken their 2nd break, which allowed us to update the top of the leaderboard. Yan Nadeau is currently in the lead, but a handful of players are really close. Here is the list:

First Name | PrénomLast Name | NomStack | Tapis
    YanNadeau123,400
    ChristianBarrett121,800
    ChristopherTavares118,400

    Yan Nadeau
    Christopher Tavares
    Anderson Frank-Graham
    Kevin Scheen
    Christos Sfyridis
    Prosper Azoulay

Moments before the break, we caught the hand that propelled Frank-Graham among the leaders. He knocked out 2 birds with one pre-flop stone:

Anderson Frank-Graham: Ace of Spades King of Clubs
André Bilodeau: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs
Jean-Philippe Lehoux: 10 of Hearts 10 of Spades

Board: King of Spades Queen of Clubs 5 of Hearts Ace of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

    Sorgente chips up

Yanis Hamrani raised, and David Sorgente 3-bet. Both players flopped a top pair, which created some heavy action that eventually led to Sorgente being fully invested. His kicker held, and he finally broke off of the field’s average to zoom to over 55K.

    David Sorgente

David Sorgente: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds
Yanis Hamrani: King of Spades 10 of Clubs

Board: Jack of Spades 4 of Spades King of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds

Sorgente is a force to reckon with, and with these newly acquired chips, his table mates are in for a rough ride.

Chris Arvanitis managed to double his short stack with a hand that his big blind position allowed him to play. When we got to the table, he had check-raised Alberto Scuderi all-in. When hands were tabled, Scuderi found that he was drawing dead.

Chris Arvanitis: 9 of Spades 2 of Spades
Alberto Scuderi: Ace of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds

Board: 2 of Diamonds Ace of Spades 4 of Spades Jack of Spades 8 of Spades

Arvanitis now works with about 24K, not too far from the average.

The first break and the registration period are now behind us. Out of the 165 players who took part in Day 1C of the Event, 133 still have chips. Kevork Bijian is currently in the lead with 87,400 chips. He is followed by Linda Huard, who counts 68,300 chips. Here is the top 5, along with some of heir photos:

Rodney Ramalho, who was under-the-gun in that hand, check-called a 3.5K bet on the flop, bringing the pot to about 13K. When he checked again on the turn, Linda Huard checked back, and the river saw the same lack of action. Huard’s confidence was withered by the shower of hearts on the run out, which greatly favored Ramalho, who had flopped a seemingly strong top pair.

Yannick Colpron and Igor Firman were involved in pot that brought Colpron to invest all his chips.

    Yannick Colpron
    Igor Firman

On the turn, Firman placed a bet of 2,700 chips. That bet was min-raised by Colpron to 5,400, and the all-in followed. Colpron called instantly, having made his hand on that street.

Yannick Colpron: 4 of Hearts 4 of Spades
Igor Firman: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts

Board: Ace of Clubs King of Spades 3 of Spades 4 of Clubs Jack of Spades

When the irrelevant river was revealed, the chips were pushed to Colpron, who now has about 24K to his name. Firman was left with about 5K.

We are now up to 150 entries. There is another 45 minutes to the registration period, and enough seats for everyone, so come and join the fun!
