    2018/01/17 - 3:14 by Jôle Simard

The last flight for Event 1 has played its last hand, and after 14 levels of tough poker, 44 players managed to bag chips. These players will be added to the Combined Day 1 Results list, found in the result section.

Jonathan Marrie sealed the biggest bag tonight, having accumulated 285,500 chips. He will be 4th in chips at the start of Day 2. Here is our top 4 for the night:

128 players will come back tomorrow at 7pm for Day 2 of the Event. Tomorrow night, the money will be reached, and our Day 2 qualifiers will slug it out for a spot in Thursday night’s Day 3 and a chance to appropriate the treasure chest.

    See you tomorrow!

Spencer Jean-Baptiste had a rough ride these past few levels, and he committed the rest of his chips with a flopped 2-pair. Little did he know, Francis Fortin Chevalier had flopped better:

Spencer Jean-Baptiste: Jack of Diamonds 8 of Hearts
Francis Fortin Chevalier: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs

Board: Ace of Clubs Jack of Hearts 8 of Spades 6 of Diamonds Queen of Spades

Moments before Jean-Baptiste’s demise, on another table, Mitchael Ferguson was dodging a straight draw:

Mitchael Ferguson: 7 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds
Sylvain Lacasse: King of Spades Queen of Spades

Board: Jack of Spades 7 of Clubs 10 of Hearts King of Diamonds 6 of Hearts

Both Fortin Chevalier and Ferguson now work with enough chips to make their way to qualification.

Three players were all-in, and a fourth was contemplating his odds. When he folded, the cards were opened:

Jason Conforti (45K): Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts
Gianfranco Giordano (24K): 6 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs
Jeff Longpré (55K): 9 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs

Center: Gianfranco Giordano – Right: Jeff Longpré

Board: King of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs 3 of Clubs

Jeff Longpré finds his way to leaderboard with an hour left of play.

Three levels away from the end of the night, it is Jonathan Robinette who has the most chips. His ascent went unnoticed, but his stack speaks for itself. Here are the leaders at the last break:

David Bonneau was down on his luck tonight, having missed several monster draws. In his last hand, he was all-in pre-flop with Lee Chanwoo:

David Bonneau: Ace of Spades King of Diamonds
Lee Chanwoo: Queen of Hearts Queen of Clubs

Board: 3 of Diamonds 4 of Spades 8 of Clubs Jack of Hearts 5 of Hearts

We missed the exact action, but Bonneau lost about 50K on that hand, and was covered by a few chip. Chanwoo chipped up to over 110K, almost twice the average.

When Éric Ranger shoved his 20K stack from an early position, the action was folded to Jason Conforti. He asked for a count, and made the call from the button. Heads-up, they went to showdown:

Éric Ranger: 4 of Hearts 4 of Clubs
Jason Conforti: Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades

Board: 3 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds 9 of Spades 6 of Clubs

    Éric Ranger
    Jason Conforti

Ranger found a 4 on the flop to double up to over 40K, closing in on the average. Conforti is on his second tournament of the day, having bagged in this afternoon’s flight of the Crazy $80, and still has enough chips in this one to play a normal game.
