Nicolas Laliberté has officially broken the million-chip barrier. We think that Justin Hung might have done that earlier, but if so only briefly, and his stack lost a few feathers since. All-in cards are flying – 9 players were lost since the break, or 25% of the remaining field, meaning the event is now unfolding on just 3 tables.

Players are now resuming play, scattered on 4 tables. This will be the last stint of the night, after which the few survivors of the upcoming blood bath will bag their chips onto tomorrow’s Day 3. Blinds resume at 10K/20K/20K, which will put a lot of pressure on most players, the average showing 14,5 blinds.

With 5 levels left to play in Day 2, only 40 players remain. A very short field is expected to make it to tomorrow’s Day 3. The intensity is increasingly palpable, as the big money approaches rapidly.

Colin Scheckman had less than 100K when he committed his stack against Albert Nguyen, who was on our last leaderboard and kept doing well since then.

Colin Scheckman: Ace of Spades King of Clubs
Albert Nguyen: Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades

Board: 2 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds King of Hearts 2 of Spades Jack of Hearts

Nguyen spikes a 2-outer for the knockout and increases his stack.

On the following hand, on that table, Todd Desbiens had his pair undone by Pascal Quirion.

Todd Desbiens: 7 of Hearts 7 of Spades
Pascal Quirion: 8 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

Board: 2 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts 6 of Clubs 2 of Clubs Jack of Clubs

Desbiens was left with a single yellow chip, and failed to produce a miracle.

Players took a short break, during which we surveyed the room to find those who possess more than twice the average. 8 names came up, with Yan Nadeau in the lead. Nadeau started the day in 7th place, and has been smooth sailing since then.

Ryan Jensen is next, the author of the double knockout that burst the bubble. Justin Hung, second in chips at the start of Day 2, follows.

Play had been hand-for-hand for just a few minute, when multiple all-ins occurred on 3 different tables. The most notable featured 3 stacks committed, and sent Jonathan Marrie (Day 1D chip leader) and Rami Hammoud to the rail.

Ryan Jensen: 9 of Clubs 6 of Clubs
Rami Hammoud: 10 of Hearts 10 of Spades
Jonathan Marrie: Queen of Hearts Queen of Clubs

    Ryan Jensen

We missed the action on that table, but got there in time for a glimpse at the board:

10 of Clubs 8 of Hearts 7 of Clubs Queen of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds

Yes, a flopped set, a flopped straight + flush draw, and a turned set! Hammoud had 177K, Marrie about 150K, and Jensen covered them both. He will definitely be on our upcoming leaderboard.

Two other tables saw eliminations during that hand, which means that 4 players will split 3 prizes. They get $225 each. Play resumes, a few minutes left from the first break of the night.
