With the blinds now at 600/1.2K/a1.2K, many short stacks are feeling the pressure, which leads to a lot of pre-flop action. In this hand, Jean-David Rivard won his race against Ryan Jensen, for a 40K pot:

    Jean-David Rivard

Jean-David Rivard: Jack of Clubs Jack of Diamonds
Ryan Jensen: Ace of Clubs King of Spades

Board: 9 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts 3 of Spades 10 of Spades

Players will take their last break of the day in a few minutes, after which 3 more levels will be played.

Stéphane Bédard open-limped from the small blind, and Yan Nadeau raised to 2,7K. Bédard went ahead and pumped it to 8K, which was called rather quickly by Nadeau. Bédard placed a c-bet on a dry flop, and when Nadeau mucked, Bédard showed aces, and asked Nadeau if he would have bet into a check. Nadeau chuckled, and said he wouldn’t, indicating that he had Bédard exactly where he was.

Later, on another table, Elvira Popescu and Therlegrand Faustin were involved in a sizable pot. Popescu check-called the turn, and open-shoved the river for about 12K into a pot estimated at almost 30K. Faustin tanked for several minutes, and eventually called time on himself. 3 seconds before expiration, he pushed forward the exact amount. A good call!

Elvira Popescu: Jack of Hearts 9 of Hearts
Therlegrand Faustin: 8 of Diamonds 7 of Spades

Board: 9 of Spades 7 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 8 of Hearts King of Spades

Players have taken their 2nd break, which allowed us to update the top of the leaderboard. Yan Nadeau is currently in the lead, but a handful of players are really close. Here is the list:

First Name | PrénomLast Name | NomStack | Tapis
    YanNadeau123,400
    ChristianBarrett121,800
    ChristopherTavares118,400

    Yan Nadeau
    Christopher Tavares
    Anderson Frank-Graham
    Kevin Scheen
    Christos Sfyridis
    Prosper Azoulay

Moments before the break, we caught the hand that propelled Frank-Graham among the leaders. He knocked out 2 birds with one pre-flop stone:

Anderson Frank-Graham: Ace of Spades King of Clubs
André Bilodeau: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs
Jean-Philippe Lehoux: 10 of Hearts 10 of Spades

Board: King of Spades Queen of Clubs 5 of Hearts Ace of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

    Sorgente chips up

    • Level: 7
    • Small Blind: 250
    • Big Blind: 500
    • Button Ante: 500
    • Chip Average: 33.7K
    • Remaining: 98
    • Entries: 165

Yanis Hamrani raised, and David Sorgente 3-bet. Both players flopped a top pair, which created some heavy action that eventually led to Sorgente being fully invested. His kicker held, and he finally broke off of the field’s average to zoom to over 55K.

    David Sorgente

David Sorgente: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds
Yanis Hamrani: King of Spades 10 of Clubs

Board: Jack of Spades 4 of Spades King of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds

Sorgente is a force to reckon with, and with these newly acquired chips, his table mates are in for a rough ride.

Chris Arvanitis managed to double his short stack with a hand that his big blind position allowed him to play. When we got to the table, he had check-raised Alberto Scuderi all-in. When hands were tabled, Scuderi found that he was drawing dead.

Chris Arvanitis: 9 of Spades 2 of Spades
Alberto Scuderi: Ace of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds

Board: 2 of Diamonds Ace of Spades 4 of Spades Jack of Spades 8 of Spades

Arvanitis now works with about 24K, not too far from the average.
