Registration today is up to 30 entries and 12 re-entries, which adds up to a total so far of 482 entries in the tournament so far.
Cards are now in the air on Day 2 of the Playground 1000. In addition to the 205 qualifiers, there are also 20 new Day 2 entries, and players have until the end of level 12 to either enter/re-enter.
The Playground 1000 takes a definitive step forward today as the entire field comes together at one time to continue play in the event. There are 205 qualifiers from the three Day 1s that were held from Friday to Sunday. To this number will be added an unknown number of Day 2 entrants during the first two levels of play today.
So far there have been 440 entries in the tournament, meaning that it’s still in an overlay situation. Buying in on Day 2 is always a popular proposition, but with literal free money on the table in the form of a prize pool overlay, the prospect of Day 2 registration should be greatly enhanced! Registration in the Playground 1000 closes at the end of the break following level 12 – which is to say that players can jump in any time until 2:15pm.
Following the end of late registration, tournament staff will put together the final prize pool and payout table and we’ll publish this here as soon as it is available.
In terms of players that have already qualified for the restart at noon, the leader by a large margin is Joseph Abou Khalil. Khalil managed to amass a monster stack of 758,000 chips (253bb). He is followed in the standings by two players with stacks greater than 600K – Christopher Turnbull and Day 1A qualifier Faisal Khan.
Chip leaders aside, however, a huge proportion of the field is made up of experienced, skilled players. Whether it’s Ami Alibay, Daune Fernandez, Said Michailidis, Joel Giguere, Chris Arvanitis, Calgary’s Shane Brotherwood, or multiple WSOP bracelet winner Andre Boyer, there are dangers to be found on each and every table. And that’s not even counting some of the most experienced pros in the field like Griffin Benger and Samuel Chartier, both of whom have more than enough skill to take any stack today on a decent run in the event.

The Playground 1000 has attracted 440 entries to date with two levels of Day 2 entry still available. So far, there are 205 Day 2 qualifiers, and play resumes at 12:00pm on Monday January 29th.
To accommodate Day 2 entries without placing all such entries together, a total of 35 seats have been reserved on the 30 tables where play will begin. If there are more new Day 2 entries than this, new tables will be created with a combination of existing players and new entries to ensure fairness for all entries.

The third of three Day 1s in the Playground 1000 has come to a close and after 10 levels of play today, Joseph Abou Khalil has finished the day with the chip lead for Day 1C – and overall in the tournament – with 758,000 in tournament chips.
Today’s final Day 1 kept on picking up steam throughout the day. By the time the dust settled, there were a grand total of 173 players plus 31 re-entries for a total of 204 entries – by far the largest starting day in the event. This adds to the Day 1A and Day 1B numbers to bring the total entries to a grand total of 440 – still in overlay territory.
Registration remains open tomorrow on Day 2 for the first two levels. Play will begin in level 11, and players can enter (and re-enter, once) until the end of level 12. The fun gets going at 12:00pm sharp! A full Day 2 seating chart with counts will be published here when it’s available a bit later this evening.
