About 8 minutes in to the final level to be played of the night, hands developed on both tables that would instantly take the tournament down to 8 players and suspend action for the night.

First up was Eric Schanck against Elaine Rawn on table 70. Schanck opened with a raise to 325K from the cutoff and action folded around to Rawn on the sb who raised to 875K. Schanck made the call and a flop was dealt: 6 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts 8 of Clubs. Rawn checked, Schanck went all in, sending Rawn deep into the tank…

    Meanwhile…

At the other table, table 62, a hand developed very quickly between Ruben Perceval and David Sorgente. Ruben was on the button and raised to 350K (with a huge stack behind) and David insta-shoved. Action folded back to Ruben who made the call.

At the other table, Rawn was still thinking – and seemed to not be paying attention to what was happening at the neighbouring table…

Ruben: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
David: Ace of Hearts 5 of Diamonds

The flop settled things quickly for Perceval: 3 of Hearts Queen of Spades King of Clubs to give him the set, and there were no miracle running cards for Sorgente – turn 2 of Diamonds river 2 of Clubs. Sorgente was out in 10th place.

Back at table 70 – Rawn made the call and the cards were exposed.

Rawn: King of Spades King of Diamonds
Schanck: Ace of Clubs 10 of Clubs

The turn was dealt and changed everything – King of Clubs – Rawn had re-taken the lead! All she had to do was fade a club….

    River: 3 of Clubs

Eric wins the pot and Rawn was sent to the rail.

    9th place: Elaine Rawn, $9,395.00

    10th place: David Sorgente, $9,395.00

Just as players were headed to their final break of the day, Aaron Roy Parsons was eliminated by Omid Shahbazian in 11th place for $7,505.00. This left 10 players still in the tournament with one level left to play on the day.

Players will have the option to play the entire final level of the day or to stop play as soon as the next elimination has occurred (which will bring the tournament to 9 players, enough for the final table).

Here are the counts at the break.

Daune Fernandez has been eliminated for the tournament on a hand that he rated to double as Eric
Schanck’s Jack of Spades Jack of Clubs managed to crack Fernandez’s Ace of Clubs Ace of Diamonds.

Nick Nickoletopoulos opened the action with a raise to 275K, and Fernandez followed with 3-bet shove. Schanck made the call, Nickoletopoulos folded.

The flop meet with Fernandez’s approval: 4 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts 7 of Diamonds but Schanck – and everyone else at the table – let out an audible “ugh” when the Jack of Diamonds came on the turn. The 4 of Clubs river wasn’t re-suck material and that was the end of the road for Daune in this tournament.

    12th place, Daune Fernandez, $7,505.00
