Palaysi out in 9th, Lehoux busts 8th

Madison Palaysi held on as long as he could but eventually the blinds caught up and forced his hand. Palaysi was down to a handful of blinds when he moved all in from under the gun with 6 of Clubs 9 of Clubs. Stephane Bedard, in the big blind, woke up with Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds and promptly made the call. Palaysi took the lead on the Queen of Diamonds 2 of Hearts 9 of Spades flop, but the King of Clubs on the turn put Bedard out in front and the 2 of Clubs river ended things. Palaysi will collect $670.00 for his ninth place finish.

Jean-Philippe Lehoux was the next to leave when he went all in before the flop with Ace of Diamonds 7 of Clubs and ran into Tony Stratopoulos’ Jack of Diamonds Jack of Spades. The board, 4 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts 6 of Clubs Queen of Diamonds, was no help to Lehoux, who finished in eighth place. He will take home $880.00 for the deep run.

Those eliminations brought the field down to seven players, and they are now battling it out on the final table.

    And then they were ten

The players are off on break as the $330 Bounty approaches the final table. There are 10 players left in the running, playing on two tables. As predicted, played slowed significantly as the bubble approached but once it burst several players hit the rail in quick succession.

The bubble has burst on the $330 Bounty. Lachezar Katev was eliminated on the bubble in fifteenth place. It was during hand-for-hand play with the blinds at 5K/10K when Katev moved all in from under the gun with 6 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds for 45K. Shailesh Patel, who is playing a huge stack, easily made the call with King of Clubs Jack of Clubs. Katev fell begind in the race when Patel flopped a pair and could not catch up with turn and river blanks.

Play has opened up since Katev’s elimination, and two more players were eliminated in short order. Play now continues with 12 players left in the field.

We are down to 16 players in the $330 Bounty, only two places away from the money. While the players remaining in the field have likely pocketed more than a few bounties at this stage, expect the bubble to have it’s usual effect; the players will tighten up and tone down the aggression until the bubble has burst.

Here are some of the players with the biggest stacks:

    Shailesh Patel
    Christian Lortie
    Donald Abdelhay

Play has just resumed following our third break of the evening. The starting field of 135 entries is now down to just 20 players. There is still lots of play left in this tournament, as the chip average provides nearly 20 big blinds, but we expect many players to bust sooner rather than later with the aggression we’ve seen up to this point.

Here are the current chip leaders:

People are familiar with the adage that aggression works in poker, but the players are taking it to the next level here tonight. We have the format, a 6-max bounty, to thank for that; with wide ranges and bounties in play, it’s no surprise that the chips are flying.

A hand we just saw shows just how aggro the play has been tonight. With the blinds at 1.5K/3K, the player under the gun, Shailesh Patel, opened the action to 13K. Immediately to his left was Ryan Garonce, who raised to 25K. It folded back to Patel, and he made the call. The two players saw the flop of Jack of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds, and Patel made a donk bet of 22K. Garonce immediately raised to 50K, trying to put the pressure back on Patel. Before long Patel moved all in for around 130K, which drew a quick call from Garonce who had Patel covered.

Patel: 9 of Spades 9 of Hearts

Garonce: King of Diamonds King of Clubs

The turn, Ace of Clubs, and river, 6 of Hearts, did not change the results of the flop, and Patel took over the chip lead with that huge pot.
