Play continues through level 10 with 29 players remaining. With many of the short stacks eliminated, the gameplay will take on a new complexion now that many players have relatively deep stacks. While the play was tentative in the early rounds, we expect to see more big pots as the big stacks try to leverage their chips and pressure their opponents.
The action picked up as the break approached when pre-flop all-ins became the standard play for the short stacks. As we enter the second break of the day, 32 players remain in contention. Play continues today until 6 players bag chips for Day 2.

The early levels of Day 1A saw the field bring a relatively cautious approach to this multi-day unlimited re-entry tournament with most players hovering around a starting stack at the break. The first four levels yielded 4 re-entries, making for 1.1 million chips in play.
One player, David Sorgente, jumped out to a clear chip lead on the rest of the field. Sitting on 51K at the first break, Sorgente has his sights on Day 2.
As play enters round 5, there are 52 players remaining in today’s start flight. While this Day 1 only drew 4 re-entries, we expect each subsequent flight to draw more entries and re-entries as Day 2 approaches.
Day 1s continue for this event throughout the week so you have plenty more chances to fight for a share of the $20,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Our first re-entry has broken the ice on the Crazy $80. It’s cold out, but things are heating up at Playground!
Today’s Event #2 in the Playground Winter Festival is a tournament that debuted just a couple of months ago in the 2017 Playground Poker Fall Classic. The nickname for the event is “The Crazy $80” and it’s a $70 + $10 NL Hold’em event. The event features 4 Day 1s – one a day from today until Thursday – and each Day 1 allows unlimited re-entries during the first 4 levels of play. The other interesting feature of this tournament is that instead of playing through a set number of levels, each Day 1 will play until 10% of the field remains.
With a $20,000 prize pool guarantee, this tourney is a considerable upgrade on the usual afternoon tournaments, and with several chances available to qualify for Day 2, it won’t be surprising to see several players qualify multiple times with the goal of taking the best stack to the final day.
