Michel Lacasse was eliminated just 3 hands into the action today, bringing the player count to 27 and requiring a table to be closed and the players distributed among the remaining tables. Immediately after the move, Jason Conforti was eliminated in 27th place, so there are 9 players on table 33, 9 players on table 37, and 8 left on table 38 as play continues.

There are just 28 players left in Event #2, and all 28 of them are currently taking their place at the tables to play their way down to a winner today. The 28 players are spread out among 4 tables, but since it’s a 9-handed tournament, players can expect table 34 to break almost immediately. Since everyone is already in the money, it’s doubtful there will be any kind of “bubble” today.

The TD is making the pre-restart announcements and action is set to begin in just seconds…

Event #2 Day 2 seating draw (with counts)

    2018/01/18 - 22:48 by

After the four Day 1s that ran from Monday to Thursday there are 28 players that have qualified to begin Day 2 on Friday. These 28 players represent the top 10% of each starting day, and in a tournament such as this, which pays 10% of the field – this means that everyone on Day 2 will cash. Payouts will be made according to the table located following the seating draw table.

    Day 1D wrap up

    2018/01/18 - 19:11 by Shawn McCrory

Day 1D of the Crazy $80 has just finished. As we approached the button, play had tightened up as the field was waiting on one of the two short stacks to succumb to the pressure of the blinds. But in a surprising twist, both the short stacks survived and it was Alexandre Tribout who was eliminated on the bubble.

Tribout found himself on the button, holding 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts, when the action came to him. The player in the cut off had limped, and Tribout followed suit. The small blind, Trevor Dixon, raised all in, expecting to get folds, and he did from the big blind and cut off, however, Tribout made the call. Dixon exclaimed “whoops!” as he turned over his hand to show 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts. The flop came 4 of Hearts 6 of Spades 7 of Diamonds to Dixon’s relief and Tribout’s consternation. The turn brought the 4 of Diamonds, followed by the 3 of Diamonds on the river and Dixon scooped.
