Today at 11:00am is Day 1D in Event #2 – The Crazy $80. It’s a $70 + $10 NL Hold’em tournament with four Day 1s – and this is the last of the four that will be held in the event.

The event has so far welcomed a total of 168 entries, which is still short of the prize pool guarantee, so there is a decent chance for some added value in the tournament. That being said, this tourney allows unlimited re-entries during the first four levels of play – so the total entries today can rise sharply as players try to make their way to qualify for Day 2.

In a stunning turn of events, William Blais was eliminated on the bubble in 8th place to be the final player eliminated in Day 1C of Event #2 – The Crazy $80 – in the Playground Winter Festival. We missed the hand in question, but we know that Blais had spread his chips among several players before finding himself all-in holding against Nabil Nahoul’s – and Blais was soon headed to the rail.

That leaves 7 qualifiers through to Day 2 on Friday:

There are now just 9 players left in Day 1C, which means only two more players must be eliminated before the remainder bag their chips up to return on Day 2. Play is progressing reasonably quickly, but we can’t forget that this is the money bubble in the tournament – at least one of them – so a little bit of extra deliberation is to be expected.

Jonathan English has raced ahead to the chip lead going into level 15, and with just 17 players left in action, now is a pretty good time to have a lot of chips in the tournament. Brossard doubles to stay alive

Olivier Brossard has made an unlikely double to stay alive in the flight – at least for now.

We arrived at the table with Brossard all in with his small-ish stack and Nabil Nahoul with calling chips arrayed in front of him.
