The Day 1C field is taking a break with the group now cut down to 26 players. The action is starting to move a little more quickly now that blinds are growing so large.
Here are a few photos we took of the field immediately before this pause.
William Blais is a talented tournament player who is at home playing tournaments at any buy-in or level of play. He has managed to put a lot of space between himself and the field through 8.5 levels of play today – and given his level of skill, it would only be a little premature to “pencil” him in for one of the 7 Day 2 slots from this flight.
Blais is currently playing over 100K in chips – while the average is just 36K and there may only be one other player over 50K to this point.
There are 48 players assembled in Day 1C of Event #2 at the moment, which includes a total of 63 entries today. This will add another 7 seats to the Day 2 starting list, all of whom will be in the money when play resumes on January 19th at 12:00pm.
Play now continues through the day until just 10% of the field remains.

Here are a few photos of the field to start the day. Participation is up to 48 entries now including the first two re-entries. Play has now started in the final full level in which entry/re-entry is permitted, so that number should grow as players choose to re-enter with a full stack while they still can.
Play is now into level 2 in Day 1C of The Crazy $80 and so far there are 27 entries today, but with people joining in a steady stream. There are a few players among the group that have already taken a shot in the event – and for just $80, there’s a lot of value on the table!
In just minutes, Event #2 will move into the second half of the Day 1 flights available as the quest to qualify for Day 2 continues. So far there have been just 105 entries in the tournament, and while an event like this always picks up steam as the number of remaining Day 1s dwindles, 105 is a long way from meeting the guarantee, so the potential for an overlay has to be in mind.
That being said, the last time this tournament format was held, almost 65% of the players joined (or re-joined) on Day 1C or Day 1D. In any case, there’s still plenty of time to join this event and the $20,000 Guarantee ensures that the prize pool will be healthy!
The field so far is very strong. There are 11 players qualified for Day 2 through the first two starting flights, and the list includes players like Jason Mottershead, Bob T, and Jason Conforti, to name just 3 of the very experienced and talented players that have booked their passage to the money in the event.
Play gets underway soon with unlimited entries/re-entries available today through to the end of the break following level 4 (i.e., until 12:30pm). Play will continue until 10% of the starting field remains, following which the players will bag their chips to take to Day 2 on Friday.
