We are now in the last level of play for Day 1D, and Louis Charles Junior Levros just took down a monster pot to eliminate two players. The action went crazy on a flop of 3 of Clubs 6 of Hearts 7 of Spades with three players in the hand. Peter Cornick made a bet of 18,000 was raised to 63,100 when Prosper Azoulay moved all in. Levros, on the button, tanked for a moment before making the cold call. Cornick then came over the top and went all in; Levros snap called. Hands were tabled to reveal a cooler spot for Cornick and a dream spot for Levros.

Levros: 7 of Hearts 7 of Clubs

Cornick: 6 of Spades 3 of Hearts

Azoulay: 6 of Clubs 9 of Clubs

The turn brought out the 6 of Diamonds and the river was the 3 of Diamonds. There were boats all around, but Levros wound up with all the chips.

Fearless play is on display here in the late levels of Day 1D.

With the blinds at 800/1,600, Dany Debs opened the betting from middle position, only to be raised by Gerson Foisy. Foisy, who had position on Debs made it 9,500 to go and Debs made the call. They saw a flop of 9 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds, and Debs checked to the aggressor, Foisy, who continued with a bet of 9,500. Debs countered with a check-raise and went all in for 41,700. Foisy quickly made the call. When the hands were tabled, the surprise at the table was palpable; Debs showed King of Clubs Jack of Clubs and Foisy had Ace of Clubs King of Spades – not the hands the other players were expecting to see! Foisy faded Debs’ gutshot straight draw and big slick stood when the turn brought the 9 of Clubs and the river was the 10 of Clubs.

As the field dwindles and the pressure mounts, Steve Carrière has established a clear chip lead over the rest of the field. We are now down to a third of the starting field, with 44 players left going in to level 12. Two hours of play remain in this start flight so there’s still lots of time for the chips to change hands.

The players are putting each other to the test as we get into the later levels of Day 1D. In round 11, with the blinds at 600/1,200, we saw Steve Carriere make a huge call to scoop a monster pot. Carriere, who made a deep run in Event #2, the Crazy $80, to finish seventh out of 262 entries, continued his courageous play when faced with a difficult river decision. We arrived at the table to see lots of chips in the pot and Carriere in the tank facing a river shove for over 42,000. The board was 2 of Clubs 8 of Hearts 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds King of Diamonds. Carriere, after scrutinizing his opponent for several minutes, finally pushed his chips forward. To Carriere’s relief, his opponent sheepishly muttered “nice call.” Carriere slammed down his hand to show Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades as the other player mucked.

The action continues in level 11. Stay tuned for a leaderboard update in the next few minutes.
