We came across a hand that developed into a huge pot. On the turn, Éric Constantineau bet 6.5K into a pot of about 10K. Christopher Hudson made the call, and hid his face in his hands, waiting for the river action to come to him.

Constantineau bet 10K on it, and after some brief deliberation, Hudson announced all-in, which meant Constantineau’s remaining 10K. Reluctantly, the call was made, and Hudson showed the goods:

Hudson had flopped huge – second pair + nut flush draw – while Constantineau had flopped top-top. The flush came through, and Hudson was promoted into the circle of leaders.

Also, the final number of entries for Day 1E is 141, 60 short of the target, meaning 261 will be needed tonight to make the guarantee. Unless an airplane filled with poker players lands in our parking lot, this number will not be matched by tonight’s tally of entries, but we know that a lot of you will be attracted by the extra value provided by the Frenzy. After 1 level of play, we have 95 entries, and tonight being Sunday night, we know that there will not be too many night owls joining us for Day 1F. 2 flights, 402 players needed. It’s a perfect day for poker in the Montreal area, and on tap today at Playground Poker Club are Day 1E and Day 1F in Event #4 of the Playground Winter Festival, the $250 Frenzy.

These are the final two chances for players to qualify for Day 2 in this event. With a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool, the event is certain to have a fantastic payout structure, and it’s looking like that could include a bit of a prize pool overlay – a great value for players.

What’s an overlay, you ask? When there’s a prize pool guarantee, the overlay is the amount that has to be made up between the prize pool generated by buy-ins and the guaranteed amount. It’s a great value for players because the tournament is just a little bit easier to navigate with fewer players in the field – but the prize pool remains the same!
