Grant Ellis just hit the rail in 7th place. He moved all in from early position, only to have Brahym Lahoun, who is running hot so far on the final table, go over the top with a dominating hand. They were tabled to reveal:

Ellis: Queen of Hearts Jack of Spades

Lahoun: Ace of Hearts Queen of Diamonds

Board: 7 of Clubs 10 of Hearts Queen of Clubs 6 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

Despite a queen-high flop, Ellis was unable to improve his hand further and busted in seventh place, earning him $430.

Sitting under the gun, Trevor Clarke looked down at 8 of Hearts 8 of Clubs and knew he had to take his chances so he moved all in. Unfortunately for him, Brahym Layoun, woke up with King of Diamonds King of Hearts on the button and re-shoved to isolate. The board ran out Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds 2 of Spades 3 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs, providing no help to the eights. Clarke was eliminated in 8th place, earning him $330.

After losing most of his stack on the previous hand, Rene Theberge was down to exactly one big blind. To his chagrin, the next hand saw an opening raise from Brahym Layoun, under the gun, and a call from David Bonneau, immediately to Layoun’s left. Theberge knew his chances were slim. After the flop of 8 of Hearts 2 of Clubs 9 of Clubs, a bet from Bonneau forced Layoun out of the pot and hands were tabled; Bonneau had 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts and Theberge had 7 of Spades 3 of Clubs. The turn was a 5 of Hearts and the river was the 8 of Clubs. The sixes stood and Theberge was eliminated in 9th, good for $250.

We saw a classic cooler on the first hand of play on the final table. With the blinds at 8K/16K, David Sorgente opened the action to 35K. Luc Richard, three spots to his left, came over the top and went all in. Sorgente snap called and tabled Ace of Spades Ace of Clubs, while Richard showed King of Hearts King of Clubs. The board ran out: 6 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs 4 of Spades 3 of Hearts, posing no threat to the aces. Richard was eliminated in 10th place.

Event #5 is down to 11 players, only two spots from the money. The blind pressure mounts quickly in any turbo format, and today’s event is no exception. This deepstack turbo event has seen a steady stream of bustouts from the first level, and the trend continues. Pre-flop all-ins became standard in the last two levels before this break as the field was narrowed down significantly. Many players have been forced to simplify their games, as the big blind is now worth more than half of a starting stack, and there are relatively few big blinds in most stacks.

Here are the chip leaders as we return from the break:
