When George Caragiorgias raised to 3,600, that bet bet was called once before Jean-Philippe Piquette shoved his 27K stack. Caragiorgias made the call.

Piquette flopped big, then dodged a flush draw on the river. Caragiorgias is down to a few thousand.

After 8 levels of play, it is Dominique Giguère who gained most. His 6-figure stack is on top, but Jacques Berthiaume and Alexander James Allison are close. Here is our top 10:

Event 9, with its $550 buy-in and its $50,000 guarantee, was sure to provide a very interesting prize pool. This is the 3rd largest buy-in in the Winter Festival 2018, next to the PG1000 – which is starting this Friday with Day 1A – and the $1,100 50/50 Bounty next Monday.

115 players were gathered in today’s one-day Event, building a $55,775 prize pool, which was split into 12 payouts:

    Rank | PosPrize | Bourse
    1st$13,500.00
    2nd$10,400.00

Ami Alibay joined late, but wasted no time. He already took out Shaan Siddiqui, who commited his last 8K or so:

Shaan Siddiqui: Ace of Spades 8 of Spades
Ami Alibay: Queen of Diamonds Queen of Spades

Board: 8 of Clubs 6 of Clubs Jack of Spades King of Spades 7 of Diamonds

Siddiqui almost did it, turning a flush draw to add to his 5 outs, but the board didn’t do it.

Michael Tessier-trasbourg, holding 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs, got value on both the turn and the river against Luciano Iacovella.

Board: 10 of Hearts 6 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds 6 of Spades 3 of Hearts

When the tens were tabled, Iacovella mucked his hand and cut out the lost amount. Tessier-Strasbourg climbs to about 30K with this sizable pot.

Meanwhile on another table, Charles La Boissonnière made his intentions public. He opened a pot, and when Rong Xu 3-bet to 3.5K from the big blind, La Boissonnière announced all-in. The bet sent Xu right to the tank. He figured out what he would be left with if he called and lost, which was about 15K out of his 40, and finally decided to fold, very reluctantly.

    A few notable arrivals:

    George Caragiorgias
    Jonathan Marrie
    Ruben Perceval

Jonathan Marrie joined the Event about 15 minutes ago, fresh from a good night of sleep following his win in last night’s PLO Event.

Registration will close soon, at which point we will bring you the payout details.
